03 Sep Representative of Salamanca University in Spain visited Tianfu College of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics

On November 5th, 2019, José Miguel Sánchez Liorente, University of Salamanca’s University Affairs Committee, and Yan Xiaolin, representative of China, visited Tianfu College of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Yao Yiyong, vice president of the school, Wang Donghui, director of the Academic Affairs Office, and Tang Rong, the continuing education center, participated in the reception.

   The University of Salamanca was founded in 1218. It is the oldest top public university in Spain. It is the same as the University of Paris, Oxford and Bologna. It is also known as the four major universities in Europe. It is also one of the oldest universities in the world.  In 800 years, countless scholars, literati, and politicians were born at the University of Salamanca. The famous Salamanca school of the Renaissance began here. The ancient city of Salamanca, developed around the University of Salamanca, is the origin of Castilian culture and Spanish. It was awarded the title of World Cultural Heritage by the United Nations in 1988. Salamanca University, as the standard setter of Spanish education, has provided quality Spanish teaching services to more than 150,000 students from all over the world. In the first half of this year, the school cooperated with the University of Salamanca to set up the Spanish School of Chengdu Salamanca University (hereinafter referred to as the Spanish School) to jointly promote the construction of Spanish teaching and examination centers in the southwest.

At the meeting, Yao Yiyong firstly expressed sincere welcome to the visiting guests on behalf of the school, introduced the school’s historical evolution, development status, professional layout and other conditions in detail, and the school’s Spanish professional declaration and the construction of the Spanish Academy Instructions. José Miguel Sánchez Liorente is very satisfied with the progress of related work, and hopes that the cooperation between the two schools can become a model for cooperation between Western and Chinese higher education.

Afterwards, the visiting guests inspected the office space and special classrooms of the Western Language Institute. José Miguel Sánchez Liorente once again expressed his sincere appreciation for the school’s efficient construction work and looked forward to the next cooperation between the two schools.

During their visit to the school, the University of Salamanca also came to the Mianyang campus on November 4, 2019, on topics such as the cooperation background of the Spanish Language School, project advantages, Spanish learning characteristics, and employment advantages of Spanish talents. Brought a wonderful lecture entitled “Walking into the Salamanca University of Western Languages College, Chengdu” for teachers and students.

The visit of the University of Salamanca marks a new stage of the cooperation project between the two universities. The construction of Spanish majors has begun to enter the fast lane, which will definitely help the construction of the Western Language School of Chengdu Salamanca University.
